Kazakhstan will soon host the largest oil and gas forum in the Caspian region, KIOGE 2010. Eurasian oil and gas giants, such as Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company KazMunayGas, the Russian gas production and distribution company Gazprom, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) are currently preparing for taking part in KIOGE 2010. The exhibition will bring together around 500 companies from 30 countries. To date, the following countries have confirmed their participation with national pavilions: Germany, Italy, Canada, China, Russia and France.
The event is organised by the Kazakhstani exhibition company Iteca, part of ITE Group Plc (UK), with partners from Russia, Germany, Turkey, China and the UAE. Since its launch, KIOGE has featured, and been supported by, the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC National Company KazMunayGas, KazEnergy Association, Almaty City Administration, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and diplomatic missions of the participating countries.
In his letter of welcome to the exhibitors, Richard E. Hoagland, U.S. Ambassador in Kazakhstan, notes: “I am especially pleased that KIOGE provides a platform for American companies to showcase their leading role in Kazakhstan’s energy sector. Our companies bring to Kazakhstan the most sophisticated technologies, the highest safety and environmental standards, and a deep commitment to responsible corporate behavior. Their investments here also contribute significantly to the development of Kazakhstan’s human capital and local content. In order to transport Kazakhstan's increased crude output to world markets, the United States strongly believes that a diverse mix of new and expanded transport routes will be required, including the expansion of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) pipeline and the development of the Kazakhstan-Caspian Transportation System (KCTS). The U.S. Trade and Development Agency has provided grants for feasibility studies and technical expertise to the Kazakhstani stakeholders of KCTS, and intends to continue its technical assistance to ensure that KCTS provides a reliable alternative export route to evacuate increased volumes of crude expected from Kashagan, Tengiz, Karachaganak, and other offshore and onshore fields”.
David Moran, British Ambassador in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, notes: “The exhibition and conference are major events for the energy industry and Kazakhstan and I very much look forward to being involved for the first time. Growth rates look promising for 2010, and there are good prospects for future years. This economic resurgence has coincided with Kazakhstan’s achievement in becoming the first Central-Asian country to chair the OSCE. I am sure that the formal sessions and the many informal networking meetings will provide valuable opportunities to discuss the opportunities and challenges of Kazakhstan’s energy sector. I am delighted that the Energy Industry Council trade association is leading the visit of a delegation of British oil & gas companies to KIOGE 2010. They are extremely well placed to make valuable contributions to these discussions and identify new business partnership opportunities in Kazakhstan. ” Rainer Schlageter, Ambassador of Germany in Kazakhstan: “The KIOGE 2010 18th International Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference offers everything Kazakhstan needs to expand its operations in the oil & gas sector and hence contribute to the technological progress in Kazakhstan in general. I cordially invite all participants and visitors to pay a visit to the “German Pavilion”, being the presentation of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as to the individual stalls of German companies”.
Bruno Antonio Pasquino, Ambassador of Italy in Kazakhstan: “Since my arrival in Kazakhstan as new Italian Ambassador, almost four years ago, I had the opportunity to appreciate the role played by the companies active in the energy-related field in order to foster the development of the entire Kazakh economy. The increasing success of KIOGE all along there years is a proof in itself of the importance of Oil & Gas sector, but also of the efficient organization and the good results all participants had enjoyed in the previous years”.
