The Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) in cooperation with ExxonMobil Kazakhstan announces a competition among Kazakhstani journalists for the best story covering Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issues. Examples include: labour rights, environmental sustainability, engagement of public interests into company policy, management of stakeholder rights (including investors, customers, clients, suppliers, communities), openess and transparency of company information, support of social projects and corporate philantropy, as well as other issues related to CSR.   
EFCA invites representatives of electronic and print media of Kazakhstan, students of journalistic departments from Kazakhstani universities, members of journalistic associations and clubs, and trainers-consultants who covered CSR issues in Kazakhstani media from January to December 2009 to participate in this competition.

To participate in the competition, please fill in the application form and enclose a copy of your story (press cutting, website texts with references, electronic data carrier with audio or video materials) covering CSR issues.

EFCA accepts journalist stories in both Kazakh and Russian languages.

Selection Criteria:
A jury consisting of several journalists and CSR experts will select the winners.  The stories will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

1) Use of various sources of information - 20%
2) Analytical approach and use of statistics - 20%
3) Regional significance of a covered event/issue - 20%
4) Author’s level of CSR understanding - 20%
5) Quality of story (design and presentation) - 20%

Deadline for Applications:
EFCA will accept applications with enclosed stories from November 6, 2009 to January 20, 2010. Please make a note ‘Journalist competition for the best CSR story - 2009’ and send via email: csr@efcentralasia.org, fax: 8 (727) 250-18-11 or postal address: 10, Kurmangaliev Str, Almaty 050010, Kazakhstan.

Competition results will be announced on February 12, 2010 on the EFCA website (www.efcentralasia.org) in the 'Tenders' section.

The three competition winners will participate in a study tour to visit companies and organizations promoting CSR in Moscow.
