American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan

Executive Director's Message

On behalf of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan, I wish to welcome you to the AmCham website, which outlines our mission, objectives, and activities on behalf of Kazakhstan’s trade and investment community, both foreign and domestic.  Like all AmChams world-wide, AmCham in Kazakhstan is affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. and represents a diverse community of investors internationally.  Roughly half our member companies – of which there are currently over 200 – are American, with the remainder being Canadian, European, Middle-Eastern, Turkish, and Kazakh.

Based in Almaty, the Chamber maintains an active schedule of member activities not only in Almaty, but also in the Caspian oil and gas hub (Atyrau and Aktau), and in the country’s capital, Astana.  AmCham Resident Representatives in each city maintain on-going contact with members and ensure that their interests are communicated to the Almaty office for inclusion in our on-going efforts on behalf of the community.

AmCham regularly-scheduled activities include monthly Business Roundtables with prominent speakers, monthly social networking events at local restaurants, seven Working Groups focused on priority topics in investment and trade, and a range of publications headed by our flagship magazine, Investors’ Voice, which visitors may view on this website.

In addition, the Chamber engages in on-going dialogue with the government of Kazakhstan at senior levels, in particular through the new Public-Private Economic Partnership Initiative (PPEPI), an initiative between the governments of the U.S. and Kazakhstan to provide a channel for the voice of Kazakhstan’s business community on possible improvements to the business environment.  AmCham heads this program through the PPEPI Secretariat in its offices and is partnered with the U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Association in Washington and the leading two local business associations, Atameken and the Forum of Entrepreneurs.

The Chamber is also a member of the Eurasia Business Platform, a program uniting AmChams in Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Turkey under the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to promote business and trade expansion in the region.

AmCham in Kazakhstan is a vibrant association that is growing yearly as trade and investment expands in this very dynamic country, the region’s success story at the heart of Central Asia.
